This position requires more than just legal and business acumen. This position reports into the Regional Legal Lead for Northern Latin America.


The responsibilities include:

Managing the Legal Department of Pfizer Colombia and Venezuela on the day – day tasks (based in Bogota, Colombia),
Providing legal advice to the different business units, as well as the legal support of the manufacturing plant.


Managing external counsels supporting Pfizer’s Legal Department.
Working closely with the Regional Lead on the definition of the strategy to develop the Legal department in the country.
We are seeking an attorney who is interested in working in challenging, dynamic environment supporting a variety of client groups in a compliance – oriented manner. 


Specific responsibilities include:

Local operational support day-to-day activities, either directly or coordinating internal resources and external counsel.
Provide legal advice to the organization and overcome legal hindrances in all matters and particularly those that are of great value to the business (public tender, licensing, divestitures, asset sales, major contingencies)
Participation in meetings of industry bodies (local PhRMA, others) for legal-related and strategic matters.


Administration and management of external counsel, including budget management.


Strategic analysis of initiatives and business-oriented support.
Negotiation and implementation of solely local licensing, divestitures, major business development issues.


Local work related to negotiation and implementation of global licensing, divestitures, major business development initiatives for the company.


Local support to loss of exclusivity strategies, IP, regulatory and pricing matters, in coordination and alignment with HQ and other local departments.


Management of investigations from local authorities in different areas (ex. environmental law, regulatory law) and coordination of external counsel and cross functional teams.


Participation in local executive leadership team providing proactive legal advice in all matters related to the operation of the company.


Coordination with Regional Lead on the deployment of strategies to manage the local Legal team Support regionally certain therapeutic areas in coordination with the Regional Legal Lead.


Qualifications:

Legal degree from a Colombian University.


Attorney admitted to practice in Colombia.


LLM or equivalent post-graduate degree is a plus.


A minimum of 15 years of professional experience either in law firms or corporations (local and/or multinational).


Of those 15 years, a minimum of 5 years working in the Legal Department of a large corporation (local or multinational).


Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry a plus.


Proactive, self-motivated and with great skills to work on cross functional teams.


Capable of handling multiple demands and priorities simultaneously.


Able to provide focused legal advice and business-oriented solutions, in a compliance manner.


Proven ability to cultivate strong client relationships and successfully influence leadership in a fast paced, innovative business environment.
Excellent team work and working in a matrix skill.
Excellent communication and writing skills in Spanish and English. Both Spanish and English levels should be Native or close to Native.
Flexibility to travel as needed.
