Facility Profile
The AdventHealth Oviedo Emergency Room (ER) is an extension of our AdventHealth Winter Park location. The 19,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art emergency healthcare serving the residents of Orange & Seminole County. The 24-bed ER includes an urgent care track to diagnose and treat non-emergent cases more efficiently, an observation unit to closely monitor care for up to 24 hours, and offers emergent care with a helicopter pad onsite. The AdventHealth Oviedo ER will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians, critical care nurses, both stroke and chest-pain experts. Job Summary
The Intern develops the technical and professional skills required of an Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist, through learning and applying applicable department processes. Assumes responsibility, under appropriate guidance, for designated areas and/or procedures. The duration of the internship, to complete the Vascular Interventional (VI) Radiography certificate program is 420 hours. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. May use the title "IR Intern" through completion of the internship, if a position is available and if the Intern maintains satisfactory performance. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required
Ability to read, write legibly, and perform basic mathematic skills
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Desire to learn and upgrade skills
Good academic standing recommendation from Radiologic Technology program (Preferred)
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Radiology or healthcare-related field (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Required
Florida State License - General Radiographer
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Intern will be able to perform specific skill only after competency is documented by IR educator. Performs, properly documents and reports all procedures within scope of practice in accordance with departmental policy. Adapts procedures to each patient's medical situation obtaining all available necessary information for proper interpretation. Follows through with all details to ensure a smooth and timely flow of procedures. Maintains patient confidentiality.
Accurately documents, completes and charges procedures to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital. Practices the principles of universal body substance isolation and adheres to safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis. Follows all AdventHealths policies and departmental procedure outlines. Participates in Performance Improvement projects as requested, and proactively initiates process improvement ideas.
Keeps supervisor informed and seeks assistance from appropriate individuals when confronted with complicated procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care. Intern - Invasive Interventional Radiology - ORL Interventional Lab - Orlando - Per Diem findings to the invasive staff for review prior to notifying physician. Maintains a professional relationship with all customers. Maintains the confidentiality of patients, administration, employees, and medical staff information with no infractions. Communicates with patients and family members appropriate to age and understanding. Manages time and equipment effectively and works as a team member to provide the best patient care. Carries out assignments in a timely manner and is productive. Keeps supervisor informed of whereabouts throughout shift. Receives instructions and guidance from the supervisors and is compliant with special requests as situations dictate.
